New JEEP Wagoneer - A Missed Opportunity

Livingstone River, K-Country, Alberta

New Jeep Grand Wagoneer, from Jeep Canada's Website
What were the executives at Jeep thinking?? If you are going bring back a legend, like the Wagoneer, WHY would you re-create the legend to look like a four-door minivan!!??

I am very happy to hear that the Jeep Wagoneer is back, I am just a little disappointed it seems to be targeted towards a market that is inundated with purchase options and not towards enthusiastic  Wagoneer drivers.

2016 Jeep Concept Crew Chief 715 from www.allpar.com
Had Jeep kept to their heritage, maybe the Wagoneer could have had more in common with the 2016 Jeep concept Crew Chief 715. Now, the Crew Chief looks like a Wagoneer...a pickup version of a Wagoneer, but still a classic Wagoneer. Look at that Gladiator grill!! I am not sold on non-directional tires, but tires are easier to change than the body of a vehicle. Imagine a Wagoneer family that had a convertible, crewcab pickup and a wagon version. This would have been the perfect platform to create the NEW legendary Wagoneer from.

Concept from papercruiser.com

The overland concept from  papercruiser.com did a better job of creating a Wagoneer than Jeep did.

My first vehicle was a 1970 Jeep Wagoneer with a Buick 350 under the hood (Winter camping in 1987, picture below). My third vehicle was a 1976 Jeep Wagoneer with a 360 under the hood. Those two Wagoneers took me a lot of places and helped create a lot of memories of good times.

JEEP if you are listening, use the Crew Chief 715 as your platform for the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and bring back a LEGEND!!

Until next time...share your opinion!
